ABOUT US
We started our journey back in early 2020 in the Kentish coastal town of Deal. Founded by Daniel Styles-Martin, our aim was and still is to create beautiful bags and accessories using sustainable fabrics in the UK.
No low cost, over produced imports. No seasons or latest trends. No items sent to landfill if they don't sell. Just premium quality pieces to be enjoyed year after year.
Our customers often ask where our name comes from. Our founding home town of Deal in Kent was originally listed in the 1086 Doomsday Book as "Addelam", so this is a gentle nod to our local heritage. We've also named some of our pieces after local landmarks or streets, further reinforcing our connection to Deal.
Our Materials
The materials we use are the heart of what we do. When we first set out creating the Studio Addelam brand, our intention was to create beautifully individual pieces from fabrics that often end up wasted. We hunted high and low for quality deadstock fabrics (often wasted in the fashion industry once a season ends) and one off remnant pieces, usually left over from other projects. We aim for all our fabrics to be the most sustainable option we can find such as recycled fibres, organic, or UK woven. This means we are proud to offer our customers pieces that are made responsibly, in small quantities, whilst supporting UK manufacturing.
Our Craftmanship
We’re proud to say all our pieces are made right here in the United Kingdom. Whether it be our trusted manufacturing partners or the Studio Addelam workshop itself, it’s all made by hand. We're proud to support UK manufacturing, celebrating British craftmanship and playing our part in reducing the demand for imported goods. Our Promise
We will never set unrealistic promises or make bold statements, but we will always promise to act in a kind and responsible way to our customers, suppliers, environment and local community. We will respect our environment, always striving to improve our sustainability standards. We will do our best to look after our customers and deliver a quality product.
